The History of Risen Savior

The history of Risen Savior Lutheran Church began over twenty years ago when thirteen people attended a worship service at the home of Herb and Lil Ebert. In 1987, services were moved to All Faiths Chapel in Sun Lakes.

In March of 1992, seventy-one people attended a congregational meeting where a Call Committee was established. By July, the congregation was formerly organized as the Sun Lakes Mission and voted to call Rev. Harold Teuscher as their founding pastor. He was installed on October 11, 1992. The congregation grew to 143 by the end of the year.

In December of 1998, after days of prayer, study and deliberation, the congregation which had grown to over 350 members, adopted a 20-year Long-Range Master Plan that featured Risen Savior Lutheran Church on Alma School Road. They hired an architect and general contractor, and within two years built this beautiful church, fellowship hall, classrooms and offices.

The vision and trust in God that so many had shared for so long, became a reality in April 2001, when, with God’s gracious blessings, Risen Savior opened its doors of this campus to the community. This beautiful new facility was dedicated on May 6, 2001. Today, about 1,200 members belong to Risen Savior Lutheran Church.

In 2002, we opened the Risen Savior Lutheran Preschool with three classrooms, eighty students and a staff of six. In 2003 we built six additional classrooms. Today, under the direction of Linda Pauley, the founding director, the school serves ages two through second grade. A staff of over twenty serves the needs of over three-hundred students.
